So these aren't true s'mores croissants. I didn't have any marshmellows. but I was still really interested in trying and kinda in the mood to experiment so I added powdered sugar to sour cream to make a sort of sweet cream to sub for the marshmellows. I wish someone else had been here to help taste test. I don't really know what to think. They're very rich and chocolatey. At first I couldn't really taste the cream, but at least from a texture standpoint I knew when I was eating it. I can't tell if the flavor was just blending really well with the chocolate, or if it just wasn't really contributing anything beyond a creamy texture. Overall it was good, but not amazing. I'm not sure I'd make it again but it was a fun experiment. I suspect if you really like the French snack of bread and chocolate then you would enjoy this a great deal.
For some reason, this one just doesn't seem appealing to me. I'm not a huge fan of those types of croissants though...or s'mores for that matter, so don't judge by me.
ReplyDeleteThey were actually better when I ate them cold. The filling was pretty good, but there's a general disjunct between the bread and the filling. Cold, they tasted more like the eclairs we used to get from Sam's Club. The bread was just too thick and overpowering.
